I've had this bike for less than a month and taken it out for a couple of rides. It has creaked right from the start. Should I just ignore it and hope it settles? Or is it a bigger problem?

OK, creaking hinge... I oiled my hinge and it was good for three rides then the creaking came back. I thought, what the heck! upon detailed inspection I found a little burr from the machining of the hole and filed it off and the creaking stopped. that little burr was the cause. it has not returned in the last 10 rides. when you machine a hole like this at such an angle it can create burrs because the tool extraction angle is sharp. file or sand it smooth. note: this Liberte has over 1500 miles and some skateboard park usage.

Hello JThere can be a few different causes of noises on your bike. The difficulty in diagnosing a noise is that the naise can migrate through the frame and "appear" to come from one part, but actually originate from another part of the bike. I would like to talk to you at your earliest convenience to help. You can call us at 1-800-346-6360, ex 107The primary cause of noise (creaking) on the new bike is the frame hinge. You may need to tighten that up a bit. Depending on the style lock on your bike, take a look at these pages to adjust your frame lock:
I had some creaking on a Liberte that I was riding hard. the frame latch pressure felt correct, but I tried adjusting slightly tighter then looser but still had the creaking, so I returned the frame lock to the original position. I then oiled the frame hinge with LPS1 spray, a light oil, and the creaking was eliminated. I believe the frame hinge is moving slightly during operation, as could be expected, and may need some lubricant. I inspected all the frame components, and they are sound with no defects or cracking. I am happy with the fix. +30 miles yesterday and no creaking.

The creaking on my Forte seems 99.9% to be coming from the saddle. Of course I was sure it was the hinge and so it took awhile to narrow it to the saddle after finally ruling out the hinge. I have tightened it down well but it still creaks when pedalling seated. Dowsing with wd40 quiets it for awhile then it returns within a day
