Hello @billhemingwayThank you for your message. Saddles can be a real "pain", for sure. Saddle discomfort is typically caused by one of two things:Acclimation and/or fit.New riders (or riders who have not ridden in awhile) may need to get "reacclimated" to riding. This reacclimation includes stregthening muscle groups that we are not used to using. Typically, if one rides consitently for 3 moths (or so), the discomfort associated with acclimation should go away. The second common cause of saddle discomfort is fit. Everybody's body is different and this includes the "Sit Bones." Some sit bones are spaced further apart, some are narrow. You will want to get a saddle that fits your body (wider is not always better). Most local bike shops can fit you for a saddle in a few minutes and help find a saddle that is ideal for you. If you have any other questions, please let us know.Tony
